Kingdom Now

As Jesus empowered the twelve disciples and sent them out to reach their own lost nation, He said “as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’” (Matthew 10:7) This was also the message of John the Baptist and of Jesus Himself; “Repent for the kingdom of heaven has drawn near to you.”  But what is this kingdom, and what did Jesus really mean when He said that it had drawn near?

What could Jesus have meant when he boldly stated in Luke 17:21 that, “indeed, the kingdom of God is within you”?

When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” was that just wishful spiritual thinking, or were they to expect something to really happen here on the earth?

What could all of this mean for us in the twenty-first century?

It’s time we get these questions answered. We need to take a serious look at the words of Jesus, and begin to operate in the kingdom reality that He established for His disciples.
